Why I do what I do!

Good evening,

I have been meaning to write this post for awhile now. Life has gotten in the way, which it seems to do more often than not. So, as I sit here today listening to the drone of the ceiling fan, I am going to share with you why I do what I do when it comes to Weddings and Family Photos with a few visuals thrown in.

Memories of loved ones, plain and simple, is why I do what I do. The main reason I got into photographing weddings was a mystery to me up until a couple of weeks ago when I saw something that made me stop and think: Why am I doing this? I thought and it hit me: Family and loved ones. This made think back to my grandparents being there for my Wedding. I was fortunate enough to have them there, my grandmother was battling a brain tumor at the time, but she wanted to see her only grandson walk down the isle. Less than 2 years later I lost both my grand parents.

Image below is the sole reason I am a Wedding & Portrait photographer!!

It may not be my family I am taking photos of, but it is yours, your neighbors, the guy/gal you work with or even someone you go to school with. It is people from every walk of life. The memories are good but after time they fade, this is why photographs are a reminder and way into the past. To bring back the memories or loved ones that are no longer with us. You never know how long they will be with you.

I never started out with the intention of making money at this and some times I still don't. This journey has lead me down several winding paths over the years and eventually to this particular vocation: Weddings and Portraits.

You see, like I explained in the paragraph above, I don't do this of the solely for the money (still need it to run this website and buy gear when needed). I do it for the look on others faces when they are holding a print in their hands of their loved ones or best friend!

Life is precious and I like to capture as many moments as I can. Whether it is my family or someone else's that has contacted me to capture their special moments. I always try to do them, if I am available to do them. Please, do yourself a favor and have your special moments photographed and no, SELFIES do not count...they never leave your phone or social media. Have a professional photographer such as myself or one from your local town take them for you. You'll be glad you did years later.

One day they are there and the next they are not. The following images are some of my favorites from my family and one more thing about this...one of these photos is of my Grandfather on my dad's side, he was a WWII vet and I never got to meet him. He was taken from us way to early. The photo is the only thing I have of him. This is the other reason I do portraits.....FAMILY!!!!

So you see, these are just some of the images I have gathered thru the years of my family. So now you understand why I do what I do. Please make sure you do the same and take photos and don't leave them on a hard drive somewhere with out printing a few up to hang and have seen to remind of the good times with loved ones.
